March Break: On and Off the Slopes at Blue

The Blue Mountain Village is offering a full line up of free family activities this coming March break including an outdoor concert with Juno nominated, Toronto musician, Suzie McNeil.

“The Village is the place for families this March Break, we’ve added many more free events throughout the week,” says Patti Kendall, Marketing and Events Manager for the Village.

Start the week off with a free Columbia Guided Snowshoe Tour -which occurs every morning at throughout the break 10:30 a.m., and climb your way up Blue Mountain.  Rentals are available from Activity Central and are open to kids as young as 5 years.

This year, the FREE outdoor concert held on March 14th has two of Ontario’s hottest, female performers.  Headlining the show is none other than the Independent Music Award Winner, Suzie McNeil.  “We’re most excited to have Suzie perform, she’s one of Canada’s’ greatest talents and a wonderful role model,” says Patti.  A Mississauga, Ontario native, Suzie has been nothing short of spectacular since her appearance on the CBS reality series, Rock Star: INXS in 2005.

Suzie performed in August last year at the Peak to Shore Music Festival, downtown Thornbury and according to Kristin Ellis, the Marketing Coordinator of the Village, “She’s a very family friendly entertainer, amazing with kids and a ton of fun to watch.”

Setting the stage for Suzie is the young and vibrant, up-tempo, country singer, Kira Isabella.  Born and raised in Ottawa, Kira will be sure to get the crowd warmed up with singles like Gonna Be a Hot One and A Real Good Radio.

All week long, free outdoor shows will be taking place including scavenger hunts, birds of prey shows, face painting, outdoor ski and snowboard movies and broomball on the Mill Pond skating rink.  And on Friday March 16th, from 1-4, meet Mumble & Erik from Happy Feet Two.

At dusk, you’ll have the opportunity to check out fascinating fire dancers right in the Village on Saturday March 10 th and Tuesday the 13th; additionally, on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, there will be a fireworks display over the Mill Pond starting at 9 p.m.

With endless free festivities including horse and wagon rides, skating on the Mill Pond, the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster, Plunge! Crock a Doodle, and of course, great skiing and snowboarding; you’ll find yourself surrounded with fun, and exciting activities, all week long; ALWAYS something to do at BLUE.
